Messages written in our yearbooks

Jim Grantham and I were talking at lunch today about some of the comments our classmates wrote in our yearbooks. It was fun sharing these tidbits from so long ago. Some were funny, some were strange, others touching. I'll start with a funny one:

You are undoubtedly the cutest girl I know. (I only know two girls, and the other is ugly.)

WE (Joe and Lois Stone Wiley, Ron and Patti Bishop(FHHS) Beckey and my wife Sandra Smith(1963) are so lucky to have known each other in WPB and now are together again in the North Georgia Mtns.
I too have a strange notation in my year book written by a grad. from 1961. " To a real nasty boy who sleeps on the beach! I'm really going to miss ya next year. Lov ya,--------- P.S. Stay off the BEACH"!! The person that wrote this to this day even as short as 4 weeks ago denies it ,but claims the hand writting is theirs. We do talk about in FUN.

Jimmie - Did you really sleep on the beach?

I just came across another one - I think it also falls in the category of strange:

"Well believe it or not, I really don't dislike you. And some of the things I do in English are all in fun, like when I tell Tom things. He really knows I'm just joking ...."


So ... does anybody else have interesting yearbook messages to share??

I really don't know about sleeping on the beach. Jumping over the fires on the beach was something that we( Kwik Chek Bag Boys) would do if we got out of the store late on Sat. nite.
Maybe it was the fruit juice.

I was the boat driver when Myrle Grate (now MD Grate ) took you to Peanut Island for a Date and I think water ski

Hi Pete!
So good to hear from you. I was looking for you at the reunion. I hope things are good with you and your family. You know, I didn't remember that you were the boat driver so many years ago. In fact, I don't remember much about it at all. Did you have a date too? Lois? Did we all water ski? I sure was crazy about Myrle back then. Recently when my husband and I were visiting with Etta Bachstet - and Etta and I were going through a box of her old momentos - I came across a snapshot of Myrle and me. Maybe I'll post it on here. When you talk with him, tell him I said hello.

MYRLE WAS VERY FOND OF YOU I DO REMEMBER .... HE HAD HEART ATTACK ABOUT YEAR AGO ..BUT IS BACK AT HIS PRACTICE NOW

A make out party!!!! I can't believe you said that. No way. As I recall, the year would have been '59 or before. I didn't remember that you dated so many girls! Also didn't know that you are in NC. We live in Blairsville, GA now - retired 5 years ago - sold our house in NPB - moved to the mountains and built a log house. Jim Grantham lives here too and arranges "mini-reunions" whenever classmates are visiting or those in surrounding states want to get together. If you're interested, let me know or let Jim know, and maybe we can put something together. It would be great to see you guys again. Sorry to hear about Myrle's heart attack but glad to know he's doing better.

BUILT A SMALL HOME IN TRYON NC BACK IN LATE 70S WHEN I WAS MAKING GREAT MONEY IN BUSINESS WORLD .... IT WAS PAID OFF BEFORE I WENT INTO MINISTRY .... WE LIVE IN BRANDON (OUTSIDE TAMPA FL) BUT GET TO GO TO NC 3-4 TIMES PER YEAR FOR A WEEK OR TWO ...ITS OUR TIME WITH DAUGHTER AND HER TWO GIRLS WHO LIVE IN ANDERSON SC
AS FOR MAKE OUT PARTIES AND GIRLS I DATED IT WAS ALL BEFORE I MET JESUS AS SAVIOR ... I HAVE TO SAY I AM SORRY TO A LOT OF FOLKS DURING MY YOUTH ... ETTA IS ONE ..I THREW HER OVER FOR ANOTHER GIRL AND I THINK THAT HURT HER ALOT .. SHE WAS SUCH A NICE GIRL SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TREATED BETTER
MAYBE WHEN WE RETIRE TO THE CAROLINAS 2-5 YRS FROM NOW WE CAN GET TOGETHER MANY OF OUR FRIENDS HAVE RETIRED TO GREENVILLE SC AREA TRYON IS ONLY ACCROSS THE STATE LINE IN NC
