Do you know of someone named Jeannie (sp?) Campbell? It looks like she was one of my Mom's friends from her year book.

Hi Penelope,

Thank you very much for your response. :) I appreciate you taking the time to contact me. I'm sure someone will pop out of the wood work.

HI Penny:

Roger is in Redhook, NY. He's been married a long time and has had 2 kids both grown now. I lost track of him after he had enlisted; but later we connected. Sounds as if he has had a wonderful marriage and kids.

I had a son by my first marriage, and now 3 grandkids, though recently he has decided to be quite judgmental over my divorcing his mother.

Edelle, my wife, had one child and two adopted children-now also all grown but there is only one grandchild.

I continued art throughout my life-painting, with degrees and such and about 25 yrs teaching art at all levels in the Miami area. I really never particularly enjoyed Florida and left the state when my son went to college. Since, I have lived in Spokane briefly, Boulder for about 10 yrs,  Arkansas for 7 yrs, and now Minneapolis. I enjoyed Arkansas as we lived in the mountains, off the pavement, on 16 acres, with a meadow and garden.

We were, are, rather progressive for that area, and now, though I miss the close up natural surroundings, we're enjoying Minneapolis. Edelle, my wife, grew up here. And we found a nice bungalow home near a wonderful parks, lightrail, bus, and bike trails.

Sounds like your area is quite beautiful too. I could picture you teaching your grandchild how to twirl the baton. I was always amazed at how you could throw it up so high and catch it with a twirl. I bet even back then that you would be a great mom.

I'm not on facebook. Just haven't gotten into it; but I'll check in here once in a while, or you can email if you like at

Hi Penny:

Have you ever cha cha cha ed since high school?

I haven't in years, though recently, at the young age of 67, have been doing "Zumba" workouts in Minneapolis, MN.

My wife (3rd, 15 yrs now) and I moved here this past year to help take care of a 3 yr old grandson. We've had quite a bit of snow too.

Hope to hear from you, and hope you have had a happy, healthy, and interesting time of it since we last saw each other.

Hi Penny,  I'm sorry that breakfast didn't work out last year.  There is a group that meets at the Original Pancake House on Northlake Blvd in the Winn Dixie shopping center on the corner of Military Trail the 2nd Tuesday of every month.  We went for the first time in March and had a really good time talking to all the alumnae from different years.  Brenda Booth was the only one from our class there.  The next one is on April 12th at 8:30 AM.  Will you be coming down again in April?  Let me know.  Joanie

Hello Penny:
I'll combine your two nice notes. I visited Moonstone in '86 after reading about it in the Guide to Naturist Beaches. Great folks at all times. Brenda doesn't have an email
any more. Her phone is 561 547 2819. We need you to help plan for our 50th. I still haven't gotten over knocking down the last library. Best, Steve
PS Great looking family.

Penny, Marian was one of my most valuable employees when I owned my bridal shop in WPB. She essentially grew up in the store. We have remained close, not business associates, but heart felt friends. I made Marian's wedding gown and veil when she and Rob married. I do get to see them in January and February when I go stay in WPB. I always spend a few days with them on the way up and then back to CT. The house is fabulous~ so much room!
It's nice to have mutual friends.

Penny, Nice photo of you and Bill. Trying to keep the brass shiny on the old uniforms was tedious. Doesn't seem possible that so many years have passed. Hope you are well. Dan

Penny, I hadn't read your page until now, so didn't know about Bill. Pity. Yes, I was on that 1958 trip in the trumpet section.

Glad you like the house. We are out in the sticks where the neighbors are friendly and you get directions in relation to the Shell station on Route 14. Dan

Hi Penny,
I haven't seen Barbara Starkey, but, was told that she has MS. I do see her sister, Betty, at 1960 reunions. Sandy Smith Grantham might know how to get in touch with her. Trudy Clinger was in the 1962 class. Brenda Booth is on the member page, so you should be able to send her a note. I was really sorry when I heard that Vicki had died. I talked to Monte Markham at the 100th Anniversary of PBHS IN Nov '08.

Hi Penny, Glad to hear from you. I just logged on last week to the site and plan on sending it to some other gals from our class that I have stayed in touch with. I noticed that Jim Grantham (class of 1960) was on our class year. That is because his wife, Sandy Smith, is in our class. They live in Blairsville, GA. My husband, Bob, is also from the class of 1960. Last Oct Jim Grantham organized a mini reunion of anyone from PBHS that was held in Franklin, NC. There were 70 (counting spouses) in attendance. That is when I met Trudy Clinger and Terry Hardwick from the 1962 class. They live locally and we want to start a breakfast group. I'll lit you know.

Its wonderful to hear from you. Of course we will love to have you get involved in the preparations for the festivities in '13. Throughout the years the most difficult thing about planning these activities is getting up-to-date snail and email addresses. Please don't
let us lose you. I guess we can always locate you through the Beckley Bugle.

All the best, Steve

It didn't hit me until I saw your comment to Steve Hiss and you signed it "Penny." I did not recognize the name "Penlope." Of course, we were in band together. I even looked up your picture in my yearbook. I am so glad we made contact. I am going to send an invite to you to become friends so we can communicate by email (messages) privately. So sorry to hear about Bill. We sat next to each other in the trombone section. We hung-out together in band but lost touch after school. Band was also a lot of fun. We were like family because we went on trips and played at contests together. My daughter is a music major from FSU and she married a music major from U of F (Yes, the schools allow mixed marriages).Their son (my grandson) is also in the band and is following the music route. I hope you are surviving the cold weather. It looks like it is starting to slack up. Cheers, George Reese

Yes Bill was my brother. Unfortunately he was killed in car accident in 1965. He had two daughters who live in California. How did you know him from band? I was also in the band playing the oboe and was majorette for 3 years. Such fun memories and now have my granddaughter playing in her high school band and that really brings it all back. Nice to be in touch once again.
