Hello Frank - In response to your request, I have some photos taken in 2014 when my husband Joe and I visited the Army Reserve Center on Tuxedo Avenue in West Palm Beach. As the building was under renovation at the time, it was not open to the public. We plan to go back for another visit when we’re in FL, maybe early next year. I understand there may be more information about Maj. Babcock inside the building. My pictures were taken just outside the entrance. Two are of the dedication marker; another (standing behind the marker) of Joe and SFC Korval, who met us there and showed us around; and one of the Florida Army National Guard sign out front. Not sure how to post them here.  If you'll give me your email address, I'll send directly to you.

If we find additional information about Maj. Babcock on our next visit, I will let you know. If you or others would be interested, I also have copies of the following:

- PB Post article and photo dated Sept. 14, 1958 about the dedication ceremony
- The Quan article in Jan-Feb 1959 issue, also about the dedication
- 1947 letter from a military chaplain to Adjutant General of the Army with details on the ship bombings of 1944-45, including a list of some of the casualties
- A memorial dedicated to Maj. Babcock on the website findagrave.com
- Also on findagrave.com, a memorial for Christine Wolfe (most of which is about Maj. Babcock)
- Other papers that may be of interest.

Let me know if you’d like to see any of the above.

Hi Frank - Sorry for the delay in responding.  My husband Joe & I were in FL at the time - now back at our home in Blairsville, GA.  During the winter we stay in the Stuart area (where Joe was born) but make occasional trips down to WPB.  On one of those trips, we drove past your grandmother's old house at Sunset Rd. & Parker Ave.  I took a picture of it and can send it to you if you'd like.  The house did not look familiar to Joe, as an enclosed front porch was added sometime in the 60+ years since he remembers visiting there with his mom.  (Joe's mother was Bert Babcock's daughter.)

We also went to the old Army Reserve Bldg. in WPB that was dedicated in memory of Maj. Elliott Babcock.  I have photos and copies of old news articles to share if you're interested.

I would very much like to see a photograph of your grandmother Bertha if you have one.  The only photo I have is of her and Bert when they were children - and I'd be interested to see what she looked like in her adult years.  Wondering if she and Bert resembled each other when grown.  Any other info you might like to share would be appreciated. My email is lswiley@aol.com.

Thanks, Lois

Hi Frank - Thanks for your friend request.  I see you had a question about a photo I posted a few years ago.  I'm able to identify 2 of the men in the picture but not the third.  Which one were you asking about?

Also, I'd love to talk to you about Babcock Family History.  I assume you were related to Bertha Babcock?  My husband's grandfather was her twin, Bert Babcock.  Genealogy is my passion and I've been in touch with Trevette (who was in my PBHS class of 1960).  I'd  like to continue sharing info on the family history if you're interested.  Let me know.
