Palm Beach High School

The "School on the Hill" in West Palm Beach, FL

Merrie Lee and I went to breakfast at Howley's restaurant. I've heard that Howley's was a West Palm Beach historical institution since the 50's. I grew up in the Northend of West Palm Beach and never knew about Howley's. I talked to several Southend PBHS alumni and they just raved about Howley's and remembered going to the resturant with their family when they were growing up. I would like to report that I liked the restaurant very much. The food was excellent and the prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area. The slogan on the restaurant's sign says, "Cooked in site, must be right." As you walk into the front door, you see the counter and tables to your left. To your right is a bigger dining room with booths and tables. I was a little disappointed with the decor. The restaurant needs some historical type of decorations such as old West Palm Beach photos or old 50's (and older) movie posters...something like that. This type of decor would coinside with the historical significance of the establishment. They did have some old 50's style lamps which were interesting and the table tops were Formica and chrome with a 50's style design. The restaurant was busy since it was a Sunday morning. I highly recommend Howley's for breakfast. We will return to Howley's...It was an adventure. The photo was taken by Steve Hiss in November 2008. Howley's is located at 4700 S Dixie Hwy, WPB - 4 blocks South of Southern Blvd - 833-5691

This was one of my favorites growing up in WPB in the 50s & 60s. My Dad's R/E business was nearby on Dixie Hiway. I just loved their slogan. Glad they are still going strong.

Paul goes to Howley's for lunch sometimes. Yes, it has been there forever. Still good.
